Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GBFS) is a byproduct of the steel industry
Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GBFS) is a byproduct of the steel industry which when ground and blended with cement improves the strength, chemical resistance, and durability of the resultant concrete. Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBFS) is a cementitious material and can be substituted for cement on a 1:1 basis. In addition to the performance benefits and cost savings this material requires 75% less energy to produce than traditional grinding processes.
Traditional grinding and drying methods for granulated blast furnace slag, pozzolans, ponded ashes, clays, and other materials relies on equipment with high capital cost, and high operating cost. SCB International has developed a patent pending device with significant capital savings and reduced operating cost compared to ball mills or vertical roller mills. Its smaller footprint, lower horsepower, zero combustion emissions, and ease of operation are expected to create a new industry standard over the next few years.
